Southern Cross University has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Management Studies at Indian university Bharati Vidyapeeth.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment between both organisations to create global engagement opportunities for students and faculties. It also aims to promote knowledge-sharing across academic and cultural boundaries, and contribute meaningfully to the evolving landscape of higher education and management studies.
"The MoU between Southern Cross University and Bharati Vidyapeeth marks a new chapter for research, teaching and student partnerships in one of the most dynamic parts of the world - in Mumbai, India. We are truly excited about the opportunities," said Professor Darshana Sedera, Associate Dean International and Engagement - Faculty of Business, Law and Arts, at Southern Cross University.

A ceremonial exchange took place in Navi Mumbai (India) to formalise the MoU. The agreement was signed by Professor Sedera and Dr Premasish Roy, Dean - Faculty of Management Studies and Professor and Director, Department of Management Studies, at Bharati Vidyapeeth.
Also in attendance was Ammar Zoeb, Director of Trade and Commission (Education) at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), who played an instrumental role in shaping this transformative partnership.
Key areas of collaboration
The Faculty of Business Law and Arts (FBLA) at Southern Cross University and the Department of Management Studies at Bharati Vidyapeeth are planning to join forces to:
- Facilitate regular interactions and knowledge exchange activities between researchers, including joint seminars, workshops, and collaborative supervision of students (such as joint PhD programs).
- Enhance research opportunities and access to a wider range of academic resources.
- Offer virtual mentorship to Bharati Vidyapeeth students.
- Organise joint PhD conferences or workshops hosted by the FBLA, and featuring Bharati Vidyapeeth panellists.
- Define specific research focus areas within digital enterprises, such as digital transformation strategies, e-commerce, data analytics, cybersecurity or artificial intelligence.
- Facilitate international exchange programs and cross-cultural study tours for students from both institutions.
