Orientation

Orientation week is held the week before classes start and is compulsory for international students. It is designed to help the student understand the university, enrol in units and register in classes, understand student visa rules and meet other students. Scholarships

Scholarships are valued up to $32,000 over 4 years, which could help pay your living expenses and allow you to study full-time. Scholarships are available to undergraduate and postgraduate international students for: academic achievement and aspirations to succeed.

Ambassadors

Our international student ambassadors are carefully selected students who work with our international student support team. Their role is to provide a point of contact for new students, having experienced the same challenges of living and studying in a new country. Ambassadors mentor students, organise and participate in events and coordinate volunteering. SCU Mates – connecting students

The SCU Mates peer mentoring program connects new students with students who have successfully completed two or more terms of study. It’s a free service for students, by students. It’s designed to help new students successfully adapt to university life and for more senior students to develop their leadership skills.

Give your career the head start it deserves and make contact with the Careers and Employability team from the first year of your studies. The team are here to help you with online CareerSuccess resources on CareerHub and you can also have career counselling.

Information and support

International students who are under the age of 18 will be provided with clear, appropriate information before arrival, during orientation and throughout their studies to ensure you are informed about your academic progress, support services available to you, and ways to keep yourself safe and manage an emergency.

If you are not accompanied by a parent or guardian:

Your accommodation will be arranged for you with SCU’s approved accommodation provider, Homestay, and you must stay at this address until at least your 18th birthday.
You will have a student advisor appointed to meet with you every fortnight to manage your welfare and wellbeing until your 18th birthday. They will also assist you to access appropriate learning or personal support services if required.
