Linking using DOIs
DOIs (digital object identifiers) are used to identify electronic documents, e.g. articles, books, book chapters. Each DOI is unique to the document it identifies.
The following databases allow DOI linking to fulltext:
Cochrane Library, Emerald, Sage Journals Online, ScienceDirect, Springerlink, Taylor & Francis Online, and Wiley Online Library.
There are three components of a link using DOI:
- The EZproxy prefix. This will allow your students who are off campus to link to the full text. The EZproxy prefix is:
http://ezproxy.scu.edu.au/login?url= - The DOI base url:
http://dx.doi.org/ - The DOI of the article/paper/chapter you wish to link to, e.g.:
10.1080/03069880410001723549
The final URL will look something like this (note - URL contains no breaks or spaces):
http://ezproxy.scu.edu.au/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/03069880410001723549
