The SCU Marlins Rugby Club competes in the Mid North Coast Rugby Union competition and has teams entered in both senior and junior grades. The clubs train every Tuesday and Thursday nights at the CHEC Campus Rugby Field during the winter season with new students (Uni, TAFE and High School) and community members welcomed.

The Southern Cross University Rugby Club is the oldest student-run organisation at the University. The Gold Rats have been a successful student-run club during its existence winning 16 premierships across all grades, including four in first grade.

SCU Swimming Club

Based at the SCU Fitness for You, this group does squad training and participates in community events such as the Byron Bay Ocean Swim Classic and Australian University National Championships. Classes are at 6:30am Monday, Wednesday and Friday and are suitable for all swimming levels. All staff on the Pool deck are Life Guard trained and qualified.
