Facilitating Groupwork Online Workshop

This workshop introduces a practical, educator-tested approach for supporting online group learning, utilising a structured facilitation framework specifically designed for large cohorts. Drawing on implementation in a firstyear engineering context, the session focuses on how to build student agency while improving accountability, participation monitoring, communication, and early intervention when group issues arise.

Participants will explore how to combine short, regular facilitated check-ins with independent team meetings, alongside explicit instruction on digital tools and layered support pathways—reducing end-ofterm conflict and administrative burden while strengthening student collaboration and project outcomes.
