“During Year 12, I discovered Southern Cross University's Early Offer Program, which gave me a direct pathway into my dream course, Occupational Therapy. The free and simple application process made it easy to apply. Receiving an offer before my exams was a huge relief, and I was also considered for scholarships, winning one based on my ATAR results. The Early Offer program allows Year 12 students to secure a place in a Southern Cross University degree before Year 12 results are released.
Being an Early Offer student means you receive personalised, specialised advice and assistance through every step of your transition from school to university. This includes special information sessions, exclusive events, scholarship opportunities, and access to university staff on the phone and email and chat to help you on your journey.
Students apply for the Early Offer program directly through the University. University staff then contact the student’s school to request a recommendation based on the student’s predicted ATAR. Based on the principal’s recommendation and the student’s final ATAR result, students will then receive an offer to study with us in either their chosen degree, a pathway, or an alternative course.
Any Australian student (including Permanent Residents and Humanitarian Residents) currently completing Year 12 in a high school in Australia. International students are encouraged to submit a direct application.
Unfortunately, international students are not eligible to apply through the early offer process.
However, we encourage international students to submit a direct application.
If your ATAR wasn't as high as you expected, don't stress! There are other pathways into our university courses.
We'll let you know of the pathway options into your preferred course in our offer email. These typically involve completing a one-year diploma degree in your study area with direct entry into the 2nd year of your bachelor degree afterwards or a fee-free preparation program like the six-week Transition to Uni or the twelve-week Preparing for Success program.
Applicants automatically receive a confirmation email, including a Southern Cross University student ID number and the course name.
We're here to support your decisions once you receive the offer, whether you're ready to embark on your educational journey or wish to defer for up to a year. We are thrilled to welcome you into our community!

Nearly all offers are unconditional, meaning you only need to complete Year 12.
However, a few conditional offers are given for our most competitive courses.
If you wish to delay the commencement of your course and you are eligible, you can defer your offer until the next academic year. Check your offer to see what study period and year your course is due to start. If you are able to start your studies in any study period of your commencing year, you do not have to defer your offer. Simply accept your offer now and enrol in that future study period.
What Happens when you defer your offer?
SCU will email you a new offer with the new commencing details. This email will be sent to you about three months before your new offer will commence. If your email address changes please be sure to let us know. Email defer@scu.edu.au.
The specific requirements of your condition will be outlined in your offer letter. There are a few reasons you may have received a conditional offer from your Early Offer application.
- Competitive Entry Courses
Conditional offers for these courses are issued pending the release of final ATAR results in December 2026.
Southern Cross University will automatically verify your ATAR—you do not need to submit it. Your condition will be lifted if you meet the required ATAR and there are places available in the program.
Example: Bachelor of Midwifery
This offer is subject to the availability of places in the course and is conditional on achieving an ATAR of 80 or higher. Southern Cross University will review your course offer after your final ATAR is released in December. The University reserves the right to withdraw offers or waitlist applicants at its discretion due to limited places.
- Completion of a Pathway Program
If you’ve received a pathway offer (e.g. Transition to Uni, Preparing for Success, or a Diploma), your Bachelor’s degree offer will be conditional on successfully completing the pathway program.
- Non-Academic Requirements
Some programs require additional documentation or steps before admission:
- ANMAC Declaration – Required for:
Bachelor of Nursing
Bachelor of Midwifery - Interview – Required for:
Associate Degree of International Hotel and Tourism Management
Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management
