Vice-President (Finance)
Travis Walker
Travis Walker is Vice-President (Finance) at Southern Cross University, with responsibility for all aspects of the University’s financial management and reporting. His portfolio includes statutory and regulatory reporting, payroll, treasury, taxation, financial performance and analysis, as well as travel and procurement.
Travis brings over 20 years’ experience in the higher education sector, including 13 years at Southern Cross University, and is recognised for his financial leadership, commercial insight, and governance expertise. Prior to his current role, he held senior finance positions at leading Australian universities, including Deputy Director of Finance at RMIT University, where he was responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial performance reporting, and commercial analysis of University programs and future opportunities. He also served for seven years as Director, Financial Performance at Deakin University.
In addition to his executive responsibilities, Travis is a board member of Southern Cross Campus Services Limited and Southern Cross Ventures Limited. He served as Chair of the Regional University Network in 2025 and was Chair of the Australian University Finance Officers Group in 2017 and 2018. He also serves as a board member and Chair of the Finance Committee for a private tertiary education organisation based in Melbourne.
Travis holds a Master of Business Administration from La Trobe University, a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from RMIT University, and is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA).
