Future Teachers Club
The Future Teachers Club (FTC) is a Southern Cross University Faculty of Education initiative designed to inspire and support primary and secondary students considering a career in teaching.
Building on the success of the current program, FTC is expanding into a coordinated national model across SCU campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane in 2026. Through hands-on workshops, leadership activities, and immersive “day in the life of a university student” experiences, the FTC introduces students to the teaching profession.

Research project
Future Teachers Club: Giving primary and secondary school students the opportunity to 'think like teachers'
Aims of the research
A research project accompanying the Future Teachers Club (FTC) aims to evaluate the impact, value and relevance of the Future Teachers Club (FTC). Designed and implemented with the purpose of providing primary and high school students the opportunity to explore the teaching profession, through hands-on workshops and interactive activities where they " think like teachers". The study will explore the perspectives of the accompanying teachers who supervise the student participants during the 2025 festival days. The insights gained from the accompanying teachers will focus on the FTC program's perceived value, program efficacy and areas for improvement in achieving the programs' overall goal of giving them insight into the teaching profession. The findings will inform the co-design of future iterations of the FTC to enhance its relevance, accessibility, educational impact and ensure that the FTC is more sustainable.
