Using the Library
Southern Cross University libraries are shared spaces used by students, staff, alumni, and community members. To help create a safe, welcoming, and productive environment for everyone, please follow these guidelines when visiting our libraries.
Take care of yourself
- Use Library spaces, facilities, and equipment safely and responsibly.
- Keep personal belongings with you and avoid leaving valuables unattended.
Take care of others
- Respect other Library users by keeping noise to an appropriate level, especially in designated quiet study areas.
- Follow group study room booking limits and cancel bookings you no longer need.
- Log out of Library computers and vacate workstations when you have finished using them.
Take care of our spaces
- Help keep Library spaces clean, safe, and welcoming.
- Dispose of rubbish appropriately.
- Enjoy hot food outside the Library to help maintain clean study environments.
By respecting other users and caring for Library facilities, you help ensure our libraries remain welcoming and accessible spaces for the entire Southern Cross University community.
The Library provides access to resources, support, and borrowing services to help you succeed in your study, teaching, and research at Southern Cross University.
The Library will:
- Provide access to the information, resources, and collections you need.
- Offer expert support through chat, phone, and email.
- Provide borrowing access to physical Library collections.
- Mail eligible physical items to your home address if you are unable to visit a campus, including free return postage.
- Send email and SMS notifications when requested items are ready for collection and reminders about upcoming due dates.
To help us provide the best possible service, we ask that you:
- Return borrowed items by their due dates.
- Take reasonable care of Library materials.
- Use Library resources for non-commercial purposes related to Southern Cross University learning, teaching, and research.
- Comply with copyright law, publisher and vendor licence agreements, and Southern Cross University policies.
- Check your University email account regularly and respond to Library notices when required.
- Treat Library staff and other users with respect and courtesy.
By working together, we can ensure that Library services and collections remain accessible and available for the entire Southern Cross University community.
