Evidence-based natural medicine plays an increasingly active role in Australian healthcare, and Southern Cross University is at the forefront thanks to the National Centre for Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) - the first centre of its kind in the country-.

Community members can access the wellness benefits of naturopathic medicine through the local Southern Cross University Health Clinic (located at the Gold Coast University’s campus in Bilinga, adjacent to the airport).

Under the supervision of experienced and qualified healthcare professionals, Southern Cross senior naturopathic students work with each patient to identify underlying causes of ill health and barriers to wellness.

“Naturopaths focus on identifying, understanding and managing the underlying causes of ill-health using a comprehensive, person-centred and holistic approach”

Associate Professor Matthew Leach

In practise, this translates into a comprehensive health assessment and personalised health management plan for each patient, which might integrate modalities like dietary and lifestyle advice, botanical medicine, nutritional medicine, and mind-body therapies with the aim to address various health concerns, boost energy, and optimise wellbeing.

And all at an affordable price! Initial naturopathic consultations are free and follow-up sessions are only $10 (complimentary for concession card holders).

“We recognise that naturopathic medicine services can be out of reach for some people, so we are delighted to be offering this important and unique healthcare service through the University’s Health Clinic on the Gold Coast,” affirmed Associate Professor Leach.

Other services the Gold Coast Health Clinic provides include midwifery, massage, clinical exercise physiology, speech pathology, osteopathy, and podiatry and pedorthics.

Separate Health Clinic appointments are also available at the other Southern Cross University’s main campuses – Lismore and Coffs Harbour-.
