Unit description
This explores Australian Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander community-based knowledge by bringing learners and community together via a compulsory 5-day residential workshop. Students will learn about respectful engagement with narratives from community and how this knowledge can be utilised Respectfully to achieve successful outcomes as defined by and experienced by the members of those communities.

Topic 1: Learn best practice in Indigenous community engagement
Topic 2: Community-based Indigenous Knowledge processes
Topic 3: Understanding Indigenous Knowledge in relationship with community
Topic 4: Narratives of representation in relation to urban and rural community-based Indigenous Knowledge
Topic 5: Rights and responsibilities within relationships with community
Topic 6: Planning action through Indigenous Knowledge gained with community
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
