Unit description

Expands on the theory and techniques in Calculus and Linear Algebra.  Topics include sequences and series, vector and inner product spaces, and linear transformations.

Unit content

Module 1: Further Topics in Differentiation and Integration

Module 2: Sequences and Series

Module 3: Power Series

Module 4: Linear Algebra and Vector Spaces (including Basis and Dimension)

Module 5: Fundamental Spaces and Linear Transformations

Module 6: Inner Product, Diagonalisation and Orthogonality

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

3proficiency in applying mathematical techniques within calculus and linear algebra to application problems
4communicate mathematical ideas, processes and results effectively
