Unit description

 The unit requires the application of expert skills knowledge within a professional working environment for career development and experience.   Students will undertake a short work-placement in industry, government, non-government organisations or academia to gain practical experience for future employability.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1negotiate a work placement or short-term professional work contract
2demonstrate an understanding of the requirements for effectively working in a professional environment and effectively integrate into a workplace
3work independently with limited supervision and to apply expertise, skills and judgement relevant to the professional workplace
4apply technical skills and knowledge for resolving problems in the workplace

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
