All students must have completed the curriculum and pedagogy II unit/s for their teaching area/s prior to their final professional placement.

Unit description

This unit extends students’ curriculum and pedagogy knowledge by applying and refining teaching programs and strategies for Stage 6 PDHPE and the Community and Family Studies syllabuses. Students analyse current issues and practices, interpret Stage 6 requirements and develop research-informed approaches for planning lessons, assessments, resources and in-depth studies aligned with senior secondary expectations.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

analyse Stage 6 PDHPE and Community and Family Studies syllabus requirements and explain their implications for senior-school teaching programs

evaluate and defend approaches to planning in-depth studies and teaching programs for Stage 6 PDHPE and the Community and Family Studies syllabuses

design and justify Stage 6 PDHPE lessons, assessments and resources that integrate digital technologies, literacy and numeracy to support disciplinary depth and senior-school learning demands

evaluate and defend approaches to planning in-depth studies and teaching programs for Stage 6 PDHPE and the Community and Family Studies syllabuses
