Unit description

This unit provides a foundational understanding of research principles and their application in health and social sciences. Students will examine the role of research in improving outcomes, explore key methodologies and paradigms, and develop skills to interpret both quantitative and qualitative data, ethical and cultural considerations, research integrity, and evidence-informed practice. Through practical tasks, students will learn how to formulate research questions and design small-scale studies relevant to professional contexts. By the end of this unit, students will be able to confidently engage with research evidence, understand its role in improving health and social outcomes, and plan research to enhance professional practice. These foundations prepare students for advanced evidence-based approaches in future study and real-world contexts.
