Unit description

Introduces students to the structure, regulatory framework, and operational dynamics of the air transport industry. Students focus on aviation economics, inter-governmental air transport agreements, airline scheduling and airline business models.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

describe the airline industry, airline economics and airline business models

identify and analyse the competing interests of key stakeholders in the airline industry

plan, and discuss the implementation of an airline business strategy

analyse the challenges confronting the airline industry through self-reflection.
