Unit description

Explores the dynamic world of project management in the context of the hospitality industry. The unit examines essential techniques and theories, while also offering a hands-on experience through a live industry-based project. Students will develop the skills to successfully plan, execute, present and evaluate projects.

Unit content

The unit comprises six modules:

Introduction to project management
Targets, time, materials and budgets
Project management methods (PERT and CPM)
Project execution
Project evaluation
Project acquittal

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

demonstrate knowledge of project management principles

demonstrate the ability to analyse a project plan

demonstrate the ability to develop a project plan and deliver a project

demonstrate the ability to reflect upon the challenges in developing a project plan then delivering and evaluating a project.
