Unit description

This unit equips students with essential quantitative skills for business, information technology and hotel management, focusing on their practical application in decision-making. Students will use quantitative tools to solve problems, with an emphasis on developing statistical analysis competence and interpretation of graphical representations, which is vital for success in economics and business. This unit will also enhance students’ ability to effectively communicate ethical, data-driven quantitative findings to diverse audiences.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

Apply foundational quantitative techniques to analyse graphs and data sets to solve problems and draw meaningful conclusions.

Quantitatively analyse data using appropriate spreadsheet and statistical software.

Evaluate and discuss findings from quantitative analyses and communicate ethical, data-informed decisions in various forms.

Reflect upon the impact of individual experiences and perspectives on decision-making.
