Unit description

This unit considers the fundamentals of builders' quantities and estimating. Basic understanding of the standard method of measurement. It considers techniques for determining quantities, costs, and methods of evaluating labour, materials for the tendering process, and variation costs

Learning outcomes

develop an estimating portfolio that integrates labour, material, plant, and subcontractor costs using current market data and digital tools.

apply cost planning methodologies to support financial decision-making activities across project phases.

evaluate the accuracy, reliability, and ethical implications of estimating practices in relation to project risk, procurement strategy, and stakeholder expectations, along with economic factors that contribute to pricing changes.
