Coffs Harbour campus will be a major venue for an international film festival this April, thanks to a partnership between the University and the Screenwave International Film Festival.

The Screenwave International Film Festival (SWIFF) – the Coffs Coast’s annual 16-day film and screen celebration presented by Ashton Designs – has announced an exciting new partnership with Southern Cross University, TAFE NSW, and Coffs Harbour Secondary College. Home to all three institutions, the Coffs Harbour Education Campus (CHEC) will be a major new venue for SWIFF’21, from 14-29 April 2021.

New upgrades to CHEC’s main theatre will give visitors a state-of-the-art cinematic experience. SWIFF audiences will delight in what will be the festival’s highest capacity venue yet at 350 seats – with a full line-up of sensational events yet to be announced for the same world class entertainment as the Jetty Memorial Theatre.

The festival will roll into CHEC from Thursday to Sunday each week of SWIFF, for eight packed days of world-class entertainment, eye-popping cinema, unique experiences and more. Plus, SWIFF’s annual sold-out finale, the Closing Night Gala and afterparty, will see the final evening of festivities be sure to go off with a bang.

“Festivalgoers are going to have so many new programming options. There is a huge event space out the front of the theatre which will include a space for live music, a beer garden, and filmmaker guest Q&A sessions,” said SWIFF Festival Co-Director David Horsley.

The new SWIFF venue will also provide mentorship and industry experience opportunities to a number of students from all three educational institutions.

The full festival line-up for SWIFF will be announced in 2021 at the SWIFF Preview Gala, with a number of events, Film Passes, and Gift Vouchers already on sale at www.swiff.com.au.

Southern Cross University is a proud sponsor of the Screenwave International Film Festival.
