Unit description

Exposes students to practice experiences in virtual a legal office environment to build skills to engage in the conduct of client matters, including legal interviewing, drafting, and negotiation. These skills and experiences will enable students to prepare for and reflect upon their transition from student to the role of legal practitioners.

Topic 4 Negotiation

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1Demonstrate professional communication in legal interviewing
2Demonstrate professional communication in negotiation and legal drafting.
3Evaluate the role of the legal practitioner and their responsibilities to clients.
4Evaluate and reflect upon the importance of well being, emotional intelligence and resilience to professional legal practice.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
