Unit description
Explores the enforcement of private rights created by civil law. Students analyse the fundamental principles of the law of torts and develop the vocational skills required by paralegals to work in this area of the law.
Unit content
Module 1: The law of torts: meaning and context
Module 2: Intentional torts and private nuisance
Module 3: Negligence – Duty of care and standard of care
Module 4: Negligence – Causation, defences and vicarious liability
Module 5: Remedies and alternative compensation schemes
Module 6: Contemporary issues in Australian tort law
