Unit description

Introduces students to the theory and practice of Organisational Behaviour (OB). Central to this objective is the study of OB at three levels of analysis — 1) Individual, 2) Group, and 3) System. Collectively this structure provides the opportunity for students to recognise how workplace behaviour can be effectively managed so that desired organisational outcomes are achieved. Students will also have the opportunity to apply much of the unit content to their personal career context.

Module 3: Performance management

Module 4: Understanding and managing inter-group dynamics

Module 5: Leadership, power, and politics

Module 6: Managing organisational culture and change

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1identify and explain the key factors that influence worker behaviour
2critically evaluate the characteristics of effective workplace teams
3analyse and describe the qualities of a leader and their impact on organisational performance.
