Unit Snapshot

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

using a system approach to construct a solution to address complex problems in urban water engineering, including water supply, wastewater treatment and stormwater management

assess and creatively apply advanced engineering methods to formulate solutions for engineering problems in urban water engineering

choose, define, manage, and communicate outcomes from an engineering project in urban water design

evaluate and justify professional conduct and performance in contributing to the successful completion of projects in urban water engineering.

critically explain the planning, design, operations and maintenance of treatment and supply systems

detail the components of, and support the need for, an integrated water management approach in engineering systems.
