Unit description

Applies a systems-based engineering approach to the analysis and design of urban water management systems. Utilises a scenario-based learning approach to guide students in applying practical tools, analysis techniques and management skills to an engineering project.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

construct integrated solutions to complex urban water engineering problems using a systems approach across water supply, wastewater treatment and stormwater management

assess and apply advanced engineering methods to formulate solutions for engineering problems in urban water engineering

manage, and communicate outcomes from an engineering project in urban water design

evaluate professional conduct and performance in contributing to the successful completion of projects in urban water engineering.

evaluate the planning, design, operations and maintenance of treatment and supply systems

evaluate and justify the components and their role in an integrated water management approach within engineering systems.
