Unit description

Introduces students to the principles and practices of event management including, their life cycles and a practical approach to designing, planning and organising events. Students will gain experience in creating, executing, and evaluating an event.

Unit content

This unit has six modules:

1. Introduction to events

2. Creating and designing an event

3. Event planning and project management

4. Event marketing and communications

5. Event operation and management

6. Event evaluation and legacy

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

demonstrate knowledge of the process of designing, planning and organising events

demonstrate ability to analyse key elements which impact the staging of events

demonstrate ability to design and execute an event

demonstrate ability to reflect upon the operational and learning experiences of staging and evaluating an event.
