Unit description

This unit empowers students to lead the development of complex smart sensing and control systems through the critical application of an advanced systems-based engineering framework. Utilising a research-led, scenario-based learning model, students will demonstrate expert judgment in the synthesis of complex engineering design, advanced systems analysis, and strategic project management. Participants will engage in high-level problem-solving by critically evaluating a range of specialised tools and methodologies to deliver innovative, real-world solutions for an industry-based engineering project.

Learning outcomes

formulate and justify sophisticated engineering solutions by evaluating and selecting advanced techniques and specialised tools to resolve complex smart sensing problems

interpret and transmit complex technical insights and innovative system designs derived from a research-led project to both specialist and non-specialist audiences

critically analyse multifaceted requirements and architect innovative engineering solutions through the strategic evaluation of advanced intelligent sensing frameworks within a team environment

manage complex projects, exercising expert judgement and professional accountability in the justification of technical and strategic decisions to achieve successful outcomes.
