Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

in consultation with the client, determine the most appropriate intervention by synthesising information, including the formulation and conceptualisation of the presenting issues, professional interviews and assessments, and assessment of risk

demonstrate knowledge of a range of evidence-based cognitive, behavioural and psychotherapeutic treatment approaches for adults including risk management and their application

demonstrate rapport building skills when conducting interviewing, applying counselling skills and psychotherapeutic techniques for adults in a simulated therapeutic context

reflect on the experience of conducting culturally sensitive interviews and psychotherapy interventions
