Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
design intervention plans for children with speech sound disorders and developmental language disorders, integrating assessment data to prioritise intervention targets
select and justify evidence-based interventions for speech and/or language disorders, based on the unique needs of individual children, and preventative or curriculum delivered interventions that support early school years literacy acquisition
develop person-centered, family-centred, and culturally responsive approaches to speech and/or language intervention, utilising resources and intervention techniques to support children from diverse backgrounds
describe the actions a speech-language pathologist can take to ensure speech, language and literacy interventions are tailored to the child’s educational, social, linguistic profile and context, including evaluating outcomes and adjusting interventions as needed for short or long-term timeframes
