  • Enrolment information

    Students must have completed all units in Year 1 AND VTWIL-1 (4 weeks) before enrolling in this unit. Attendance Requirements - Due to the requirements for experiential learning as well as compliance with professional accreditation standards, attendance at tutorials, workshops, practicals and field trips is expected. Some learning experiences will be hybrid, but daily attendance at the Lismore campus will be typically expected. Students must attempt all assessments as per the Assessment Teaching and Learning Policy.


Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

demonstrate proficiency in gathering a medical history and accurately recording clinical examination findings in common domestic species

perform a physical examination on a range of domestic animal species in order to detect clinical signs of ill health

demonstrate proficiency in determining a management plan for caring and supporting animals affected by ill health

discuss the presentation of specific illness and the appropriate diagnostic approaches aimed to achieve diagnosis.
