The mission of Southern Cross University incorporates a strong commitment to regional Australia, through the quality of the graduates it produces and through rich connectivity with its communities. The University draws on issues of regional relevance in delivering its teaching and research and is an 'engaged university', exchanging knowledge and ideas with surrounding communities for mutual benefit.
As a young and vibrant University, Southern Cross has a track record of innovation and flexibility in its approach to delivering quality educational courses and services to its students. For the first time in 2015 Southern Cross was included in the top 500 universities globally in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-2016 and in THE Top 150 Young Universities globally in 2019. In the 2018 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) National Report, the University achieved a stellar performance, with 23 research fields evaluated 'at world standard' or above, and 14 of those recording the highest possible result.
As globalisation and digital platforms continue to transform the higher education sector, the University through its Strategic Plan 2020-2026 is positioning itself for the future, while demonstrating its core values of collegiality and integrity.
