Southern Cross University is deeply rooted in the values and the aspirations of regional Australia. The mission of Southern Cross incorporates a strong commitment to excellence in regional Australia through the quality of the graduates it produces and through rich connectivity with its communities. The University draws on issues of regional relevance in delivering its teaching and research and is an 'engaged university', exchanging knowledge and ideas with surrounding communities for mutual benefit. We measure our success on our engagement and the retained connectivity with our alumni who have demonstrated an extraordinary capacity for an expression of positive social values.
As a young university , Southern Cross has a track record of innovation and flexibility in its approach to delivering quality educational courses and services to its students. Southern Cross is a world-ranked university, appearing variously in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the Top Young Universities globally and the QS Subject Rankings worldwide. In the most recent Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) 2018 National Report, the University achieved a stellar performance with 23 research fields evaluated as “at world standard or above” – 14 of those recording the highest possible result.
As we adapt to an era of significant macro-change across the globe, we need to be at the forefront of sensitising and leveraging the range of digital platforms to what students find both interesting and value producing. In keeping with that commitment to transformation and adaptation, the Southern Cross University Strategic Plan 2020-2026 provides a reference point for future growth while demonstrating our core values of collegiality and integrity.
