Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
apply pre-production planning and project management processes to production of an animation project
apply the theoretical principles of frame animation and character design to create a short animated film that reflects industry-standard practices
apply animation principles in the production of an audio-visual animation using industry standard software and hardware.
Prescribed learning resources

- All students require access to broadband internet connectivity and a computer with sufficient processing power to support the software used in animation production.Essential software and hardware requirements are listed in the COMM2003 Orientation Module, with recommended options.Students must have access to the following to complete the learning and assessment tasks:• Access to industry standard design, animation and editing software is strongly recommended but students may also use open-source alternatives.• A digital graphics drawing tablet, or iPad, with stylus (digital pen).• Microphone and recording device to record dialogue or sound effects for animation.• One A4 sketch book and four pencils (HB, 2B, 6B and 9B).• Portable data storage or cloud storage to back up work.
A number of electronic texts and technical tutorials that will form the basis of the unit tasks will be available on MySCU, along with links to relevant websites.
