Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
demonstrate a broad and critical understanding of the knowledge base of Stage 6 HSIE syllabi, including recent theory and research in the relevant disciplines
develop engaging units of work and lesson plans and resources related to selected theoretical and practical content of the Stage 6 HSIE syllabi, demonstrating familiarity with the required syllabus outcomes, objectives, key competencies, knowledge, skills, and understandings; source and assess the appropriateness of digital and non-digital resources that link to informed and effective teaching and learning across the HSIE Stage 6 syllabi
apply current pedagogical theory, including the NSW DET Quality Teaching Framework, to develop effective teaching and learning strategies that encourage students with a diversity of learning needs, styles and cultural backgrounds to engage effectively with HSIE in Stage 6 skills, as appropriate to the needs and expectations of the profession
assess the literacy and numeracy demands of the suite of HSIE Stage 6 syllabi and develop effective teaching and learning activities to integrate literacy and numeracy strategies; identify and critically examine assessment and reporting procedures and strategies in the context of the Preliminary and HSC standards-referenced assessment framework
