Therapeutic Home-Based Care

 

The Centre for Children and Young People (CCYP) partners with the Australian Childhood Foundation to evaluate innovative therapeutic home-based care programs that support children and young people living in foster and kinship care across Australia. Our research examines how trauma-informed, relationship-based approaches strengthen children’s wellbeing, promote safe and stable placements, and build the capacity of carers, families and care teams.

Through evaluations of programs such as OurSPACE NSW and ACT, and the WA Therapeutic Foster Care Program, CCYP explores how therapeutic support, counselling, culturally responsive practice, and collaborative care-team approaches can improve outcomes for children and young people with complex needs. Our work generates evidence to inform policy, practice, and service development, contributing to stronger, more responsive systems of care for children and families.
