Biography

Dr. Ya-Ling Huang has her Masters and PhD in Nursing, and is a registered nurse in Australia and overseas. She is a teaching and research academic, Faculty of Health (Nursing Discipline) at the Southern Cross University and a visiting research fellow at the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) as well as an adjunct research fellow at the Griffith University with various experiences in clinical, education and research.

Research

Her research interests focus on clinical research in acute care settings and research evidence-based practice. She has been involved in research projects which have attracted more than a quarter of a million in research grants and award as a principal and associate investigator. Her research focuses on Acute Care (Emergency; Respiratory), Sub-acute Care (Palliative; End of Life; Chronic Care), Vulnerable Populations (Older People; Cultural and Linguistic Diversity), Research Evidence-based Practice, Qualitative and Mixed-Methods Research and Cultural and Social Aspects.

Community engagement

She has engaged in a number of services. This includes but not limited to multicultural network, GCHHS; emerging research alliance, GCHHS; reviewer for peer-review journals; nursing and midwifery professional recognition program (NMPRP) portfolio reviewer and advisory group, GCHHS; Gold Coast Health Research Week Committee.

Supervision

She has worked as a research coordinator and clinical nurse researcher (emergency department) at the GCHHS and has successfully mentored clinicians and nursing students in clinical research and published in peer-review journals. She is qualified as a Principal Supervisor for Higher Degree Research Candidates, Faculty of Health. She has supervised 10 Master of Osteopathic Medicine Students towards completion of their research projects. She is currently supervising Higher Degree Research Students.
