Position Title: Manager of Data Platforms. Organisation Unit: Technology Services Campus: Gold Coast. 
My name is John Broomfield and I have a wealth of experience in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics along with a Master’s Degree in Data Science from James Cook University. I commenced as a Technical Lead (Data) for Southern Cross Universities Data and Analytics function in November 2022. Prior to this, I managed the data & analytics function for Australia's largest smash repair company AMA Group, delivering reporting and analytics solutions for senior management along with 180 repair sites around Australia.
I gather and document user requirements and turn them into actionable insights effectively while developing strong relationships with stakeholders regardless of seniority. I manage priorities using an agile development approach and continuous integration and deployment (CI\CD) to deliver working software solutions, within tight budget and time constraints. I am proficient at managing happy, high-performing data teams, all with specific skillsets and I am able to maintain their focus toward desired outcomes.
I am experienced at defining measurable outcomes and compiling Data Roadmaps for Senior Management Teams, having done this in multiple recent roles. My more resent experience has been using the Microsoft Data Platform (Azure, Databricks, Synapse & Power BI). I am Australian born and have lived and worked in the US and UK. I enjoy supporting SCU to make better data-driven decisions.
