Research

As Research Associate for the TOATL group, Sophia supports the delivery and documentation of risk assessments.

As a remote pilot, she also coordinates drone missions for the TOATL group.

Sophia’s PhD research formed part of the Cooling and Shading sub-program of RRAP. She used numerical modelling of the coral-symbiont relationship to investigate the role of light and temperature in coral bleaching. Sophia collected environmental forcing data from laboratory experiments and examined coral bleaching through physical, physiological, and photochemical metrics to validate the physiological component of a numerical model.
