Michael Charles

Biography

Associate Professor Michael Charles is part of the Faculty of Business, Law and Arts at Southern Cross University. He holds a PhD from the University of Queensland and a Master of International Business Studies from QUT. He has published over 130 refereed journal articles, along with numerous book chapters and conference papers.

Research

His current research focuses on public values (especially as they pertain to critical infrastructures), research and innovation policy, the status and future of higher education, and collaboration between industry and academia. He also maintains an interest in ancient history, especially military studies, gender, and the use of elephants in warfare.

Community engagement

He advises on critical infrastructure and innovation, and provides insights into the ancient Mediterranean and Middle East.

Supervision

He supervises HDR candidates in infrastructure policy, public values and higher education management.

Teaching

Michael teaches business and management units.
