Biography

Dr Kyle Bennett is an Early Career Development Fellow in Sport and Exercise Science. He is an accredited Sports Scientist (Level 1) with Exercise and Sports Science Australia, who has extensive research and practical experience in youth sport. He has liaised with multiple youth sporting teams, academies, and member federations including Newcastle Jets, Northern NSW Football, Liverpool International Football Academy, and North Coast Football.

Research

Dr Kyle Bennett is an active researcher in the Skill Acquisition discipline of Sport and Exercise Science. Kyle collaborates with the Head of Research and Development at Football Federation Australia to deliver both research and practical outcomes for youth players. Active projects with Football Federation Australia include "The prevalence of relative age effects in developmental pathways of a national federation", and "The influence of estimated biological maturity and relative age effects on match outcome at a national youth championship". Kyle is also leading a community-based research project with RISE Coffs Harbour, which aims to investigate the effect of a new youth academy model on the mental health outcomes and football performance of players from different socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Teaching

Dr Kyle Bennett is the unit assessor for Human Growth, Development, and Ageing (BIO71001) and Exercise Psychology (HEA00332). He also tutors Motor Learning (HMS00328) and Motor Control (BIO10493).
