Biography

Dr Anna Praskova is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Faculty of Health and Education. She graduated from Griffith University in 2010 with Bachelor of Psychology (Hons), and in 2014 with a PhD in the field of career developmental psychology. She went onto a Principal Research Fellow role with Metro North Mental Health, and, later, worked as a Career Development Practitioner and Lecturer at the SCU and the USQ. Anna was in the midst of opening of the psychology degree at the SCU Gold Coast in 2019, taking on a role of a Lecturer of Psychology, and enjoyed her teaching, supervision, and research responsibilities. In 2022 she accepted a Senior Lecturer and Course Coordinator role at ACAP (Sydney) but continues to be tightly connected with SCU in her adjunct role.

Research

Dr Anna Praskova is predominantly a quantitative researcher with unique combination of experiences, interests, and skills. Her research focus is on career development and wellbeing across the lifespan but she is also expert in the development and validation of new psychological scales. Anna draws on goal-setting, social cognitive, and self-regulation theories to investigate complex processes and personal and social factors involved in people's successful pursuit and management of their careers. Her interest in psychological constructs of career calling and meaningful work are dominant in her work to date. Anna employs a wide range of quantitative analyses, including conditional process and structural equation modelling.

Supervision

Dr Anna Praskova is experienced in supervising psychology honours research projects as well as postgraduate research projects in the field of career development and mental health. Anna is a registered HDR supervisor (SCU).

Teaching

Anna is a passionate educator. She has an extensive experience teaching within the psychology course - units such as career development across the lifespan, psychological assessment, research methods and statistics. She feels comfortable teaching face to face, online, as well as in blended learning environment.
