Suzi Syme

Adjunct Associate Professor Suzi Syme was the Associate Dean (Education) of SCU College for several years where she led the College in the transition into the 6-week term SC teaching model to increased success and retention rates. She was the Coordinator of the award winning Preparing for Success Program for over 14 years designing strengths/based curricula that impacted positively on students' achievements and success. Suzi designed a framework for teaching in enabling programs, the GEMS Model of Success, and has published in internationally, peer reviewed journals on creating a culture of success via the use of interactive teaching strategies that empower students in their learning. Her recent scholarship of teaching and learning projects investigate the impact of the SC Model on students' experience of the enabling program in a cross cultural context. She co-led the first national benchmarking project of enabling programs across Australia with the aim of establishing national standards for enabling programs. Suzi was an elected and active member of the National Association of Enabling Educators Australia (NAEEA).  Her doctorate explored the issue of curriculum internationalisation where she designed a critical theoretical framework and transformative pedagogical strategies that create culturally inclusive practices and give students a 'voice'.
