Nicolas Dimopoulos is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Southern Cross University (SCU). As a plant scientist, he is a member of the GRDC funded project Geospatial analytics to predict the impact of residual herbicides on establishment and yield. As part of the project, he is working at understanding how residual herbicides in soil affect the growth of crop plants.
With expertise in plant molecular biology and plant physiology, his research interests broadly encompass understanding plant-environment interactions and how plants respond to environmental stresses.
Nicolas has a PhD from SCU in Plant Science with a thesis on characterizing how drought stress, time-of-day and hormones regulate the production of medicinal compounds in Cannabis (Cannabis sativa). Previously, he received a MSc in Plant Science from the University of British Columbia, where he studied how grapes (Vitis vinifera) respond to drought stress, and received a BSc in Microbiology from The University of Victoria.
