Biography
Stacey Campbell is an Associate Professor and Chair of Discipline, Early Childhood Education and Care. Stacey is a researcher in early childhood education, specialising in literacy, language, and teaching professional practice. She is particularly interested in the complex role of phonics, phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, and oral language in early reading and writing development. Stacey also has a research focus on family-teacher partnerships.
Stacey is a registered Queensland primary teacher (QCT) with an ACECQA-recognised birth-to-eight early childhood education degree. Stacey has extensive experience in early childhood education as an early childhood teacher, director of community-based kindergartens and long day care services, a primary teacher in the early years of school (K-2) and a university pre-service teacher.
Research
Stacey’s research applies mixed methods, qualitative and quantitative approaches to studying early childhood education. She has increased visibility and recognition nationally and internationally for her early childhood literacy development work. Stacey's journal editorial roles have included co-editor, Practical Literacy: The Early and Primary Years, an Editorial Review Board Member for the Reading Teacher, and an Editorial Board Member, Literacy Research: Theory, Methods and Practice. Stacey currently supervises three HDR students and has won numerous awards for her teaching and industry service.
