Biography

Carrie Thomson-Casey is a Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years of experience across diverse mental health sectors, including sexual assault services, violence prevention, disability, vocational rehabilitation, and rural practice. She has extensive private clinical psychology practice (21 years) and is a recognised educator, designing and teaching tertiary subjects in integrative mental health, professional ethics, and psychological interventions.

Her research explores the intersection of psychology, professional practice, and client preferences, with a particular focus on integrative mental health interventions, lifestyle medicine, and evidence-based complementary medicine. Carrie’s publications have influenced international discussions on ethics, policy, and best practice in psychology, counselling, and integrative health care.

  • Integrative Mental Health: Psychologist engagement with lifestyle and complementary approaches within evidence-based frameworks.
  • Complementary and Integrative Medicine (CIM): Clinical reasoning, ethics, and client-centered care implications.
  • Complementary and Integrative Medicine interventions for personal/professional resilience and mental health care (herbal medicine, mindful practices, reflective functioning)
  • Health Professional Wellbeing: Resilience, reflective functioning, and strategies to mitigate burnout.
  • Veteran Mental Health: Impact of medical discharge on psychological adjustment, identity, and access to integrative supports.
