Biography

Alice is a Lecturer in Humanities in the Faculty of Education, located on the Gold Coast Campus. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Languages)(Hons) from the University of Sydney and a master’s and PhD in Education from UNSW. She has extensive experience teaching History, Spanish and English in secondary schools in both NSW and QLD.

Research

Her doctoral research was a qualitative study in which she interviewed Australian exchange students before, during and after their sojourn to Mexico. It explored the transformative nature of transnational experiences by examining the alteration of identity and perception as a result of intercultural communication and cultural and language learning. Currently, Alice’s research focuses on increasing student engagement in History classrooms in secondary schools.

Alice is interested in supervising or co-supervising postgraduate students interested in pedagogy in the Humanities, transnational experiences, cultural and language learning, ethnographic research, and qualitative social studies.
