Biography
Dr Ting WEI is a Lecturer in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) at Southern Cross University (SCU), bringing over 25 years of experience as an educator, lecturer, and researcher. Her expertise spans teacher education, curriculum design and evaluation, and child development, with a strong focus on child empowerment. Throughout her career, Dr Wei has held various leadership roles in both local and international institutions, making significant contributions to teaching, research, consultancy, and scholarly publication - further advancing the qualify of early childhood education.
Research
Dr Wei specialises in early childhood education and care quality, with a research focus on context-based assessment practices. Her program of research advocates for multi-stakeholder evaluation, emphasizing the integration of assessment with ongoing improvement. Dr Wei collaborates with early childhood professionals and leaders to advance curriculum development and employs child-centered research methodologies to amplify children’s voices and empower them in shaping educational practice.
Teaching
Dr Wei brings extensive teaching experience across diverse learner groups, including undergraduate and postgraduate adult learners, as well as early childhood professionals. In higher education, she specializes in early childhood curriculum and pedagogy, research methods, and assessment. Dr Wei has extensive experience providing educational consultancy to Community Child-Friendly Spaces and Activity Centers in rural and regional areas, ethnic minority communities, and disaster-affected regions. She is actively involved in research projects supported by UNICEF, Right To Play, and Save the Children.
