Aseni Warnakula FHEA, MEd (E-learning and Digital Technologies)

Aseni is a dedicated educator with a strong foundation in teaching and computer science. After graduating from Teachers' Training College in 2009, she taught in schools in Sri Lanka, where her passion for integrating technology into education began. This enthusiasm led her to pursue postgraduate studies in E-learning and Digital Technologies at the University of Canterbury, deepening her expertise in online teaching methodologies and digital transformation.

Since 2015, Aseni has contributed to multiple higher education institutions in New Zealand, including Massey University and the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand, in roles such as Educational Designer, E-Readings Coordinator, Learning Designer, and ICT Developer. Across these positions, she has consistently applied her strengths in instructional design and information architecture to develop equitable, user-friendly, and pedagogically aligned online learning environments. At Massey University, Aseni has successfully led and managed projects, such as the implementation of copyright management software and initiatives to enhance digital capabilities among academic staff and students.

She remains actively engaged with emerging e-learning trends in higher education, and her research interests include sustainability in education and capability development. She is an alumna of the ACODE Learning Technologies Leadership Institute (LTLI), a former member of FLANZ, and a regular contributor to the ASCILITE Contextualising Horizon report.
