Biography

Dr Vicki Dunk is a Senior Lecturer (Teaching Scholar) in Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology. She has extensive experience teaching large, diverse cohorts and specialises in evidence-informed, student-centred curriculum design.

Research

Vicki’s research focuses on the learning sciences, particularly self-regulated learning, metacognition, and cognitive load in higher education. Her work examines how learning science principles can be embedded into curriculum and assessment to support learner agency, equity, and transfer of learning.

Teaching

Vicki designs inclusive, active learning experiences grounded in learning science. Her teaching emphasises explicit instruction, cognitive load management, and developing students’ capacity to apply knowledge across contexts. She has led multiple curriculum and assessment redesigns across health and education disciplines.

Other

Vicki is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and contributes to teaching and learning initiatives, curriculum development projects, and academic mentoring. She is committed to translating research evidence into practical, sustainable teaching practice.
