Biography
Associate Professor Michael Charles is part of the Faculty of Business, Law and Arts at Southern Cross University. He holds a PhD from the University of Queensland and a Master of International Business Studies from QUT. He has published over 120 journal articles, along with numerous book chapters and conference papers.
My work contributes to the following UN Sustainable Development Goals

My current research focuses on public values (especially as they pertain to critical infrastructures), research and innovation policy, the status and future of higher education, and collaboration between industry and academia. He also maintains an interest in ancient history, especially military studies, gender, and the use of elephants in warfare.
Community engagement
He advises on critical infrastructure and innovation, and provides insights into the ancient Mediterranean and Middle East.
Supervision
He supervises HDR candidates in infrastructure policy and higher education management.
Teaching
Michael teaches business and management units, aviation management, and a unit on cinematic portrayals of the ancient Mediterranean world.
