Biography
Scott is a Senior Lecturer in Finance with the Faculty of Business, Law and Arts, Southern Cross University (SCU). He holds a Bachelor of Business with First Class Honours and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Finance from SCU.

Scott’s research examines the behavioural drivers of financial advice seeking, financial decision making, responsible investing, and financial wellbeing, with a particular focus on financial abuse in intimate partner relationships. He has published in leading journals including the Journal of Consumer Affairs, Australian Journal of Management, and Journal of Sustainable Finance & Investment, and has won numerous competitive research grants. His recent work maps pathways between trust, anxiety, and financial help seeking, and assesses financial wellbeing outcomes for financial abuse victims and survivors to inform prevention and support strategies. His research contributions offer opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across business, law, psychology, and social policy.
Community engagement
Scott regularly engages with local financial services firms. He is also involved with the Faculty's Accounting and Finance (ACFIN) Curriculum Advisory Group and consults with regulatory and accreditation bodies such as the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), The Treasury, and Financial Adviser Standards (FAS).
Supervision
Scott is actively involved with Higher Degree Research (HDR) supervision at SCU. He has successfully supervised seven (7) HDR candidates and two (2) Honours candidates to completion.
Teaching
Scott is the Undergraduate Business Course Coordinator and Academic Lead in Financial Services at SCU. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses (both domestically and internationally), such as investments and portfolio management, finance for business, and behavioural finance and client relationships.
Other
Scott is an academic member of the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ), Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA), and Financial Planning Academics Forum (FPAF). He has also worked as a client advisor and wealth manager in the stockbroking industry, gaining high-level stock and derivatives accreditation.
